The Ground Up Project Named Runner-Up at High Sheriff of Cheshire Awards 2026
The Ground Up Project is excited to share that on Thursday 19th March, we were named Runner Up in the High Sheriff’s Award for Promoting Social Mobility, sponsored by the University of Chester, at the 2026 High Sheriff of Cheshire Awards.
The High Sheriff of Cheshire Awards celebrate organisations and individuals who make a positive difference in the county, recognising innovation, inclusion, and community impact.
ThePromoting Social Mobility Award recognises initiatives that help remove barriers and create opportunities for young people to reach their potential, particularly in education, employment, and personal development.
We are proud to have been named runner-up in this category. This recognition highlights the impact of our work supporting young people to build confidence, gain real work experience, and take meaningful steps towards employment. It shows that the work we do every day, through our learners, our team, and our community, is making a real difference.
Two of our directors were present on the night to celebrate this achievement. Wendy Bowyer, one of our Directors said:
"Being recognised at the High Sheriff Awards is a wonderful moment for The Ground Up Project. It shows that the work we do every day to empower young people and open doors to opportunities is making a real impact. We are so proud of our learners, our team, and everyone who supports us on this journey."
This recognition inspires us to continue our mission of creating meaningful opportunities, championing inclusion, and promoting social mobility in Cheshire.
