About Us

Empowering Neurodivergent Young People Through Inclusive Employment

Who We Are

Making a real difference in young lives

At The Ground Up Project, we are dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of neurodivergent young people. We are a Community Interest Company based in Cheshire, committed to creating meaningful job opportunities.

We believe every young person deserves the chance to grow in confidence, develop practical skills, and feel fully included. Our work is founded on the belief that, with the right support, everyone can shine.

Driving Change Through Purpose and Principles

Guided by clear mission and values

Our mission drives everything we do. We break down barriers that young neurodivergent people face when entering the workforce.

Mission

To open doors to real work experiences that build skills, self-belief, and lasting independence.

Vision

A society where diverse abilities are celebrated as strengths.

Values

Inclusion, empowerment, partnership, and community.

Creating Pathways to Real Work

Providing inclusive work opportunities

We offer inclusive work placements and run community cafés that serve as stepping stones into employment. Our first café, located at Theatre Porto, is more than a café, it’s a space where young people learn, grow, and showcase their talents.

Through partnerships with local businesses, we provide supported internships and training that lead to real opportunities.

The children are wearing white shirts with a logo that says 'the Ground project up.' The girl on the right is holding a plush toy. There are plates, napkins, and plants in the background. The interior has decorative wallpaper, string lights, and large windows letting in natural light.

Tackling Inequality, Building Confidence

Addressing urgent employment gaps

The need for change is urgent. Only 5% of young people with learning disabilities in England have paid work. We’re working to change that.

By creating genuine pathways into employment, we reduce isolation, build stronger communities, and empower young people to live more independent lives.
